Nicoles Story

This video was created to encourage first time donors to return to donate again, especially our directed donors who may come in to donate for a patient in our hospital but never return again after that patient is no longer requiring transfusions. Reactions to the video have been quite favorable! We used a real City of Hope pediatric patient, 18 year old Nicole. She’s been a patient at City of Hope since she was 14. She’s also a former Miss Teen California. Nicole just recently underwent her second bone marrow transplant with us. The other component is one of our frequent donors, Kurt. Kurt began donating when his sister Nancy was a patient with us. Nancy is now if full remission but required over 200 units of blood and platelets during her transplant process. Kurt is now a regular platelet donor and one of our biggest cheerleaders! These are real people with compelling stories to tell. I know you’ll be touched by the video as many others have.
