Opening Session FISH! Philosophy Speaker

The fishmongers of Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market are known around the world for throwing and catching large slippery fish to the delight of their customers. The fishmongers are dedicated to making customers’ visits memorable, and they do that by finding ways of making the customer’s day. In the field of recruitment, you also have opportunities to make the day for donors, sponsors, and fellow team members.  The fishmongers have discovered the power of focusing on one person and one thing at a time. At the market there is a great deal of discussion about choice - a reminder of what the fishmongers have discovered: you choose your attitude. Insightful, intuitive and with a knack for finding the fun and delight in the world around us, FISH! Speaker Deena Ebbert will inspire you to start your own attitude epidemic.

A natural leader, Deena Ebbert spent 15 years sought after by heads of industry during times of turbulence and change. From innovative high-technology start-ups to Fortune 500 powerhouses, Deena built a reputation by creating winning environments where top-performing teams flourish.

A master at revealing the essence of a situation, Deena is now steeped in The FISH! Philosophy® full time, sharing the stories and guiding the conversations that create energetic, unified and profitable organizations. An unstoppable force in cultivating fresh new ways to approach our workplace, Deena explores the power in personal accountability, and the synergies that come from commitment, opening us to the unlimited potential that exists within us.

Industry Expert Panel on Recruitment Trends in Automated Collections

The days of collecting as much blood as you can – with little regard to blood type or cost – seem to have disappeared.  Today, blood centers are faced with inventories that outpace demand and are forced to strategically reduce collections without damaging donor and sponsor relationships. For the first time in ADRP conference history, the association will offer conference attendees the opportunity to interact with a vendor industry-expert panel to learn how automation can play a key role in collection reduction strategies.

Medical Directors Panel on Safety Among Young Donors

The panel of Medical Directors from multiple blood centers will share their perspectives on the growing issue of safety among young donors, including how their centers have addressed it.  Session attendees will be encouraged to ask questions throughout the session to gain a better understanding of the issue and steps that can be taken to mitigate adverse reactions among a growing population of young donors.

Host City Event: Cruise to Tillicum Village

Puget Sound Blood Center has a fantastic evening planned for the Friday Host City Event. The adventure begins with a cruise of Puget Sound to Blake Island. Here, attendees will make their way up a path strewn with clam shells bleached by the sun. Then they will enjoy an appetizer of clams and nectar before entering the long house for a buffet meal. Conference attendees will be able to watch whole salmon being cooked on cedar stakes over an alder-wood fire in the traditional Northwest Coast Indian Style. As attendees finish their meal, the lights dim while the myth and magic come to life in the spellbinding performance featuring the Tillicum Village dancers.  Host city event included in full registration.
