Getting People Involved
Although ADRP members work every day to encourage individuals to donate blood, tissues or organs in an effort to save lives, there are a few special days and months of the year that have been set aside to raise public awareness and donations around the world.
January – National Blood Donor Month
January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month (NBDM) to encourage donors to give or pledge to give blood.
April – National Donate Life Month
April is National Donate Life Month, which seeks to increase national focus on the critical need for organ, tissue, marrow and blood donors.
June 14 – World Blood Donor Day
On 14 June, the global community celebrates World Blood Donor Day. This day is an annual event officially designated to recognize and thank the millions of people around the world who donate their blood on a voluntary, altruistic unpaid basis to help save the lives and improve the health of others. The day also seeks to encourage more people to become voluntary blood donors and will underline the importance of regular donation to prevent blood shortages.
