After you read my column in the Fall Drop, I would appreciate input on your own experiences regarding incentives.
-
What do you do to incentivise and reward – or, if you prefer, to encourage and recognise – donor behaviour? n What investments do you make, what seems to work for you and what evidence is there of its impact?
-
Is your programme conditional; rewarding all those who come forward to donate or only recognising successful donation?
-
And, crucially, are we guilty of raising the bar ever higher, increasing donor expectations to the extent that they become "addicted" to our incentive programmes?
-
Would those without heavyweight incentive programmes be better advised to never embark down this route?
Please participate in this online discussion. I will attempt to synthesise the debate in the next edition of the Drop, to see if a consensus view emerges and try to assess how our own experiences relate to some of the published research.
